The spunky singer opened the first episode with some light-hearted humour and a beautiful song
The 41st instalment of the hit comedy series, Saturday Night Live, kicked off this weekend.
Miley Cyrus opened for the premier episode, sporting an interesting three-dimensional floral dress and cap.
The 22-year-old pop star began by addressing the audience. “I love hosting this show because it’s live, so my parents know where I’m at for at least 90 minutes,” she said. “Tonight I am on a seven-second delay – not a television delay, it’s just when you smoke as much as I do you’re always on a seven-second delay.”
Prior to performing Frank Sinatra’s famous song, “My Way,” she grieved over the summer’s end, alluding to all of the pointless news stories that have graced the press this semester.
As she sang Sinatra’s hit, various members of the SNL cast appeared onscreen as former summer news headlines. These included the likes of the woman who pretended she was black for 20 years, the man who killed Cecil the lion, Drake and Meek Mill’s feud, the pizza rat, Ariana Grande’s licked donut and Lenny Kravitz’s wardrobe malfunction.
This is Cyrus’s third time hosting SNL, and we can only look forward to another hilarious season of the iconic series.
