Irish duo Microdisney are releasing their first anthology this month, featuring their best tracks from the '80s.
The virgin sacrifice we made to the Reissue Gods has paid off with the first ever Microdisney compilation, Daunt Square To Elsewhere: Anthology 1982-'88, about to hit the racks.
Much-loved by John Peel, the Cork outfit’s line-up featured Cathal Coughlan who went on to form Fatima Mansions and then go solo, and Sean O’Hagan who’s still leader of the High Llamas.
Angry young men who nevertheless had a penchant for perfect pop, they came tantalisingly close to cracking the mainstream charts with ‘Town To Town’, ‘Gale Force Wind’, ‘Singer’s Hampstead Home’ and ‘Pink Skinned Man’.
All four feature on the compilation along with such wonderfully monikered album tracks as ‘Patrick Moore Says You Can’t Sleep Here’, ‘Horse Overboard’, ‘Give Me All Of Your Clothes’ and ‘Dreaming Drains’.
