The film, starring Michelle Doherty, will appear in Cork, Limerick and Wexford next week
An award-winning Irish film starring Michelle Doherty will be screened in a number of cities across the country next week.
The Hit Producer, which premiered in Dublin in October 2015, claimed a whopping eight awards of excellence from the IndieFEST Film Awards, and will be shown in Omniplex cinemas of Cork, Limerick and Wexford. The exclusive screening event will take place on January 13 for one night only.
The thriller revolves around Katelin Ballantine (played by Doherty, pictured), a struggling film producer looking for an investor. At the point of desperation, she is lured into the drug underworld in a bid to make some fast cash, but things quickly go by the wayside when she witnesses a botched murder and then decides to finish off the job herself. And with that, a journey into the murky undercurrents of criminal life begins.
Also featuring Neill Fleming, Fergus Kealy, Rory Mullen, Aenne Barr, Karl Shiels, Andy Kellegher, Susan Barrett and Blake Norton, the film's dark comedic vibe is formed primarily by the protagonist Katelin; think a hybrid of Love/Hate’s Nidge and Kill Bill’s The Bride, for a smidgen of what to expect.
It was a hit with audiences in the capital, so we expect that Leesiders, Shannonsiders and Slaneysiders alike will be rightly pleased if they catch it - tickets for the special events next Wednesday are available now.
