A week after Sony Music agreed on a multi-million dollar deal that will allow them to take full control of a Michael Jackson publishing deal, the Michael Jackson estate has been sued for $200,000 by a UK based Law firm.
Atkins Thomson Solicitors claim they carried out work for the pop icon two years before his death.
The Hollywood Reporter has claimed at Atkins Thomson Solicitors are seeing executive John McClain, as well as entertainment attorney John Branca. Both are the executors of Jackson's estate and are being accused of the breach of contract.
According to a state claim on the 21st of March in California, U.S, the solicitors say they are owed up to $200,000, equivalent to €179,000.
The attorney for Atkins Thomson Solicitors, Stanton L. Stein, has written an official complaint: "Defendants have failed to honor Jackson’s obligations under, and has materially breached, the agreement with Atkins, and any implied covenants therein, by failing to make the payments as required".
Jackson faced similar charges in 2009 after the director of the 'Thriller' video, John Landis, filed a law suit against Jackson, claiming he had not been paid any profits that the music video had made over the last four years.
