A new musical based on the life of the king of pop, Michael Jackson, is set to hit Broadway.
The Michael Jackson Estate and Columbia Live Stage made the announcement today that the show will aim to be on stage by 2020.
Few details have been released about the untitled project, however it has been announced it will feature a book penned by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage.
Nottage won the Pulitzer for drama in 2009 for Ruined, a dark exploration of the plight of Congolese women surviving civil war and took home the prize again in 2017 for Sweat which centered around a small community of steel workers in Pennsylvania ripped apart by factory lay-offs.
Also attached to the project is ballet master Christopher Wheeldon, who won a Tony Award for his choreography in An American in Paris in 2015.

The musical score will draw from Jackson's extensive back catalogue from his motown hits with the Jackson 5 to his iconic contributions to the world of pop music including 'Thriller' and 'Bad'.
