The European Festival Awards will honour the renowned music promoter in January.
Melvin Benn, CEO of Festival Republic, is set to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the European Festival Awards. The UK-born Benn, who has had a hand in a huge number of successful Irish events, will pick up his accolade on January 14 in Groningen, as part of Eurosonic 2015.
Benn said: "I’m very flattered and honoured to receive this prestigious award and join an incredible line-up of previous winners. I work with the best in the business and couldn’t do what I do without a really strong team around me; my thanks go to all those individuals past and present who’ve helped to make our events what they are. I’m hugely passionate about our industry and every day continues to excite me as we push the boundaries of the festival experience and create lifelong memories for music fans and audiences."
Melvin Benn helped re-write the UK’s Guide To Health and Safety at Outdoor Events, a.k.a. ‘The Pop Code’. In Irish terms, he has been behind Electric Picnic, which has gone from strength to strength with 2014 being the most successful ever. He continues to organise the Reading & Leeds Festivals, as well as the likes of Latitude, The Big Chill and the Berlin Festival. Latitude celebrates its 10th birthday in 2015.
