Mavis Staples brings a positive attitude to her politically charged new single, 'If All I Was Was Black'
The Chicago-born rhythm and blues singer tackles race on the single taken from her upcoming album of the same name.
If All I Was Was Black is Staples' sixteenth studio album, and will be produced with Jeff Tweedy of Wilco. Slated for released on November 22nd, Staples says the album has been inspired by the current racial divide in the United States.
In the album's press release, Staples said, "We’re not loving one another the way we should."
"Some people are saying they want to make the world great again, but we never lost our greatness. We just strayed into division."

The album will be the third time that Staples has collaborated with Tweedy.
