Upcoming November performances include a collaboration with Martin Hayes and the music of Romania
The RTE Concert Orchestra has announced two huge shows for the month of November, showcasing some very special guests along the way.
November 24, virtuoso Irish violinist Martin Hayes will join the Orchestra for the first time to perform a night of music that will include a brand new fiddle concerto composed specifically for the evening by Dave Flynn. In addition, Hayes will perform with guitarist Dennis Cahill and the Orchestra will perform additional pieces by Flynn and Arvo Part. It's a one-of-a-kind night of music that will be difficult to pass up. The show will take place at the National Concert Hall, with tickets ranging from €11 to €38.
Three days later on November 27, St. Patrick's Cathedral will play host to a night of Romanian music, highlighted by the RTE Orchestra's first ever rendition of Shaun Davey's 'Voices From The Merry Cemetery' as well as other Romanian songs and carols. Joining the Orchestra for the evening will be the Men’s Choir of the Sibiu Theology School all the way from Transylvania to lend their talents to the Romanian musical celebration. The performance coincides with the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ireland and Romania, and is being co-sponsored by the Romanian Cultural Society and the Romanian Embassy in Dublin. Tickets for the trans-continental concert are €25.
