He brings his sour songs to The Sugar Club.
Mark Lanegan follows his Main Stage appearance at Longitude with an altogether more intimate show in Dublin’s Sugar Club on November 5. Tickets priced €29.50 go on sale on Friday July 26 and won’t be hanging around for long.
Along with a selection of Screaming Trees and solo faves, the 48-year-old will be showcasing his Imitations covers album, which drops in mid-September.
“When I was a kid in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, my parents and their friends would play the records of Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Perry Como, music with string arrangements and men singing songs that sounded sad whether they were or not,” the American proffers. “At home my folks were also listening to country music – Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Vern Gosdin were some of our favourites. For a long time I’ve wanted to make a record that gave me the same feeling those old records did, using some of the same tunes I loved as a kid and some that I’ve loved as I’ve gotten older.”
