Hip-hop star parts ways with collaborator Ryan Lewis for a new upcoming album
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis would seem to be an inseparable duo, and if Grammy awards and record sales are any clues, they haven’t been doing half bad together. But after nearly a decade of working together, the two artists are breaking away from each other for some creative distance.
Macklemore explained the amicable split with Ryan over Instagram, writing,
"After the last tour, Ryan and I agreed that some creative space would be good for the both of us. Ryan Lewis is my brother forever. We have been working together damn near every day for 9 years and it felt like the right time. This decision came from a place of love for one another. I'm the best man at his wedding next month. There will be more M&RL music to come when the time is right."

On 15 June, Macklemore released a new single, ‘Glorious’ (ft. Skylar Grey), from his upcoming solo album. It’s been twelve years since Macklemore released a solo album, marking a momentous shift in the hip-hop artist’s career.
