It’s only two days until Longitude 2015 launches, so with that in mind Hot Press took a sneak peek of the Marlay Park venue this morning to give you the low-down on the festival
With Hozier, Alt-J, Wolf Alice and The Vaccines all taking to the various Longitude stages this weekend, Hot Press took an exclusive trip around the site venue this morning. The Main Stage, now fully constructed, stands a little to the left of its usual position, while the Heineken Stage is in full form for up-and-coming soul singer Leon Bridges on Friday who is sure to be a highlight. Nestled just off the beaten track is the cosy Whelan’s Stage which will see Drenge, Wolf Alice and Dublin outfit, Girlband take to its stage. Other highlights include the Redbull Music Academy Stage and the TXFM tent where you will be able to jam with your friends to various DJs for a real festival experience.
Like all festivals these days it’s not just music that Longitude has to offer. The Dirty Old Town Speak Easy located beside Whelan’s Stage will feature street performers and comedian Danny Dowling, while the Tokyo themed Heineken Sound Atlas includes old school arcade games, noodles, karaoke and ping-pong tables in honour of the Japanese city. Other additions to this year’s festival include an E-Cigarette chill-out zone with hammocks and bean-bags aplenty and the very impressive 3 deck where festival goers will allowed to book a spot to view their favourite acts rocking the main stage. Pittsburgh burgers and charging points are available in the V.I.P area while other charging stations will be dotted throughout the site. The popular Prosecco bar will also make a return while separate Bacardi and Desperado bars feature on the site.
With organisers Guy, Colm and Rory assuring us that sunny skies are on the cards for Friday and Saturday and that it’s “too soon” to look ahead to Sunday, one thing’s for sure is that it will take lot more than clouds and drizzle to dampen the spirits of those attending Longitude this weekend.
