Mouthy modern day chanteuse Lily Allen leads the nominations for the BRIT Awards 2007.
Allen's up for four categories including Best Female Solo Artist, Best Breakthrough Act, Best Album for Alright, Still and Best Single for 'Smile', it was announced last night.
She's closely followed by our very own Snow Patrol, who've bagged three nominations for Best Group, Best Album for Eyes Open and Best Single for 'Chasing Cars'.
Gary Lightbody and the boys will be performing at the awards ceremony, which takes place on February 14 at Earl's Court in London, along with Scissor Sisters, The Killers, Take That, Corinne Bailey Rae, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Amy Winehouse and Oasis.
Also up for the prestigious awards is Damien Rice, who'll have to fend off tough competition from Beck, Bob Dylan, Jack Johnson and Justin Timberlake to claim Best International Male.
HMV's Gennaro Castaldo comments: "2006 has been an exciting year for new music - in many ways the dawn of a new era, and The BRITs nominations certainly reflect this. It should make for an open contest, that will be much harder to predict than in previous years.
"All the nominated artists can now look forward to a major upsurge in sales as they benefit from The BRITs endorsement and the huge exposure that will follow, including, of course, the showcase of The BRIT Awards themselves. HMV regularly experiences a doubling or even trebling of sales of featured BRITs artists, particularly If they perform well on the night or go on to pick up one or more of the awards."
