The singer's website seems to have jumped the gun.
There appears to be some dotting of Is and crossing of Ts to be done on Leonard Cohen’s July 31 show in Sligo’s Lissadell House.
The date was announced on Cohen’s official website on Saturday, but a spokesperson for Irish promoters POD Concerts has today described that announcement as “premature.”
Details of the show have just been removed from the leonardcohen.com tour page, but apparently all is not lost, with the definitive word on what’s happening due shortly.
Needless to say, hotpress.com will keep you abreast of developments.
For those of you not au fait with your stately homes, Lissadell is a 19th century neo-classical pile, which was the childhood home of the renowned Irish republican Constance Gore Booth (aka Countess Markievicz) and her sister Eva. Lissadell was put on the literary map by W.B. Yeats, who used to holiday there.
After passing through various aristocratic hands, it was sold in 2003 to an Irish couple, Edward Walsh and Constance Cassidy, who’ve spent a small fortune – perhaps even a vast one! – restoring the house to its former glories.
