Izibor Woos International Contingent

Rising Irish soul star Laura Izibor was thrust centre stage last night, as a contingent of UK record company executives and media people descended on Crawdaddy to catch her latest home-town appearance there

"She's a top priority artist for the company," boss of Warner Ireland Pat Creed told Hot Press. "There's a feeling that we have something very special here and people are gearing up to try to turn that potential into reality now."

Among those in town to catch Laura in action were the head of Atlantic Records in the UK, Max Lousada, as well as Warner Music's head of artist liaison Colette Carey, Marketing Product Manager Jamie Burgess and European Vice President of International, Matthieu Lauriot-Prevost.

At a post-gig party in Lillie's Bordello, the mood in the Warners camp was hugely upbeat after a superb performance from Izibor, which very effectively wooed the contingent of UK press also flown in for the occasion. There was talk of follow-up features and widespread coverage flowing from the Dublin trip in newspapers and magazines as diverse as The Guardian, The Daily Star, Company, Word, Rewind and Cosmopolitan. "She was great," Guardian feature writer Hannah Pool, whose has heard Laura's album, told Hot Press. "I really like her and it's a fascinating story."

Laura's debut album Let The Truth Be Told is slated for release early in the new year.
