The former Electric Picnic headliners played their first live show of 2017 last night (Thursday 6 April), debuting three songs from their upcoming fourth album.
Last night, the Brooklyn band returned to their home borough to play the first of a five-night residency at Brooklyn Steel.
And, while speculation that the band would play new music from their upcoming album was rife, a poster outside the venue confirmed everyone's suspicions.
The poster read: “We have a special plea. Please don’t film the old songs. We already made a whole movie out of those and you’re not gonna find a ‘better angle’ with your iPhone than Spike Jonze found with his camera.”
The note continues, “Please don’t film the new songs. It’d be a real gutpunch to all the people who have been working insanely hard for the last 18 months to release this music in the way we want to release it.”

The band – who cancelled tour dates last year to finish their new record – will continue their residency at Brooklyn Steel until April 11. A run of world festival dates have also been announced.
Frontman James Murphy recently issued an update on the band’s next album. He said that the band were “still working on it, but it’ll be done soon”, adding: “Winter tends to mess with my voice, so finishing the thing drags out.”
