Johnny Rotten is open to recording with his old bandmates
Following on from successful Public Image Limited shows last year, Johnny Rotten (our John Lydon to his mother) has been talking up the chances of The Sex Pistols reuniting. Not massive news in itself, the group has played various gigs together since their implosion (and sans the deceased Sid Vicious). What is interesting is that this time they might be taking to the studio rather than the stage.
The 54 year old punk legend, who has been promoting his new book Mr. Rotten's Scrapbook, feels the timing could be right following his year with P.I.L.
"I’ve really been in a songwriting mode and I can now look back on the Pistols and imagine writing with them" says Lydon. "I wouldn’t have been able to think about that if I hadn’t got the P.I.L. thing going again. You forget the wars and personal hate over time.”
The Pistols' last recorded work can be found on 1979's The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle - an already departed Lydon was replaced on vocals by infamous train robber Ronnie Biggs amongst others.

Never ones to pass up the opportunity to make a few quid (their 1996 comeback was entitled Filthy Lucre Tour), it is likely the other members would be up for a recorded reunion - guitarist Steve Jones has recently hinted as much.
