There's also a role for his former Clash tour managing mate Johnny Green
With the lights going down it’s really starting to kick off at Metropolis with lots of ooh-ing and aah-ing over the fire-bellowing outside dance stage where we also had our minds blown by Jackrabbit’s Grilled Flatbreads with Labneh, Za'atar, Pomegranate Onions, Picked Chilli & Coriander Salsa.
As you’ll previously have read on hotpress.com, the spoken word stage was graced earlier by Dr. John Cooper Clarke and his partner in crime Johnny Green, the former Clash tour manager who penned the brilliant A Riot Of Our Own: Night And Day With The Clash book.
Afterwards Mr. Green told us that Noel Fielding is interested in making a ‘Two Johns’ movie about their friendship and wild adventures. Hopefully it'll include the extremely tall tale JCC told in the RDS about meeting a man back in the 1970s who he'd swear was Gerry Adams. We also heard how his first Dublin gig was with a fellow poet called Michael D. Higgins who a couple of years back in Galway pestered him for a selfie - or that's how the good Doctor spins it!
While the former John is looking forward to the release of the Hugh Cornwell album on which he for once gets to sing, the latter one has penned a new cycling tome, That Sideways Stare, which derives its title from a famous Lane Armstrong look as he zoomed past a hapless Tour de France opponent. It’s due in Easter with J.K. Rowling - it’s a long story! - among those who can’t wait to read it.
Keep tuned to hotpress.com for John Cooper Clarke talking about his recent US tour and Mafia-related shenanigans.
