Our own Stuart Clark will be talking to the poet, as well as former Clash associate & master yarn-spinner Johnny Green.
John Cooper Clarke’s Irish love affair continues on Saturday November 7 when he’s publicly interviewed by HP's Stuart Clark at 3.30pm as part of the Metropolis festival’s spoken word line-up. He's also performing at 8.30pm.
Riding shotgun with him in the RDS will be Johnny Green, the former Clash tour manager who penned the brilliant A Riot Of Our Own: Night And Day With The Clash, and has been working with the band’s drummer, Topper Headon, on his autobiography. There’s an especially good Willie Nelson story that we’ll get Johnny to tell!
As for the Bard of Salford, we cannot recommend his Anthologia boxset too highly. Drawing on every phase of his 40-plus year career, it includes such seminal moments as ‘(I Married A) Monster From Out Of Space’, ‘Readers Wives, ‘Never Seen A Nipple In The Daily Express’, ‘Beasley Street’ and ‘Kung Fu International’.
