Grammy winner’s latest album is a grueling affair.
While there’s no denying that r ‘n’ b Grammy Award winner Jill Scott has a good voice, her fourth album The Light Of The Sun does little to prove that she’s got hte songwriting chops too. Featuring the usual litany of guest appearances and production credits that seem to have become part and parcel of the genre these days, the record is severely hampered by her numerous spoken word performances which are probably intended to provoke her listeners to holler “You go girl!” at the top of their lungs, but which instead make this reviewer reach for the “I’m Not Sure I Can Take Anymore of This” button. A charisma-free affair from start to finish, The Light Of The Sun is uninspired. To put it mildly.
