The popular 2fm broadcaster and DJ has announced that she will marry Kelly Keogh.
RTÉ 2fm presenter Jenny Greene has announced her engagement to long-term girlfriend, Kelly Keogh. Greene first revealed the good news on Twitter, saying: "She said yes! Over the moon!!"
Greene, who is currently on holidays from her RTÉ 2fm show, spoke to her co-host Nicky Byrne over the telephone this morning, and revealed that she and Keogh were having a great time celebrating their upcoming marriage. Jenny and Kelly have been together for three years.
"We got a great laugh this morning,” Greene said. “It must be a slow news day! We're having a great time - you'll have to dust off your suit now."
Byrne asked her to reveal how the proposal came about – but Greene responded that that particular story was for his ears only – and that she would tell him off-air.
Greene did, however, reveal – in what was a good-humoured, banterful exchange – that she hopes Byrne will sing at the wedding. "I have a lovely gentleman friend who I hope is going to sing a nice song for us,” she teased. "I'm giving you plenty of time to rehearse the song, Nicky."
Byrne asked if Greene would like to have her wedding feature in a glossy magazine – presumably a reference to Hello! or OK! – or even the RTÉ Guide. "I might do the Echo or maybe Mix Mag,” the presenter replied.
Before the same sex marriage referendum, which took place in May this year, Greene spoke about her future plans to the RTÉ Guide and told the magazine she would definitely like to marry.
"I'm not saying that if the marriage referendum goes through that we would get engaged the following day, but I would like to know that I can," she said in the interview.
In the end, it took just over three months for one of Hot Press’ favourite radio personalities to pose the big question. Clearly, congratulations are now in order...
