First Of The Summer Wine is some compensation for the much-loved Electric Avenue closing locally.
The festival season gets busier by the day with Tramore Racecourse playing host on June 5 to the multi-stage First Of The Summer Wine.
Previously host to Vince Power’s Irish Fleadh, the hallowed turf will be hosting Imelda May, Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club, Neville Staple from The Specials, trad legends Scullion, Special Brew, The Bionic Rats, Tucan, and the Ceili All Stars.
Tickets priced €30 are available now from Ticketmaster, with kids under 12 admitted free if accompanied by an adult.
The sad news from the sunny South East is that after four years of flying the rock ‘n’ roll flag there, Waterford’s excellent Electric Avenue has been forced to close after its landlord went into liquidation.
“The banks and receivers were less than receptive to the idea of an independent, alternative gig space,” rues promoter Mick O’Keefe who as well as masterminding the aforementioned First Of The Summer Wine is now working with the city’s other leading venue, The Forum.
