Ship of Light
Scandinavian ambient pop excellence abounds
What is it about Nordic bands that makes them so adept at producing slick slices of electro-pop? We’re not sure whether it’s something to do with the influence of their frosty climes or the machinations of Thor the Thunder God. But they seem to do it better than anyone else. Husky Rescue are a case in point. Ship Of Light is their fifth record and it’s a powerhouse of ambient pop. ‘Sound Of Love’ features some coquettish vocals from sometime singer Reeta-Leena Korhola, ‘Man Of Stone’ is a heady mix of Bats for Lashes and Kate Bush, and the album closer ‘Beautiful My Monster’ is a decidedly dark masterpiece that rounds the album off in style.
