The Wicklow native was interviewed by Zane Lowe on Beats 1.
Hozier has revealed he has "never been so eager to make music". In an interview with Zane Lowe the Irish singer songwriter spoke about touring, his new track 'Better Love' and his second album.
His self titled debut was released in 2014 featuring the track 'Take Me To Church' and 'Jackie and Wilson' and catapulted him to music stardom.
"I've never been so eager to make music. I’m itching for it. In a big way. If this opportunity had happened at a different time I would have just been spent, but I had had maybe six days of quiet and I can’t really write on the road", he told Lowe.
Hozier is about to begin work on his second record and stated he finds it easier write away from the road. He added, "when it all stops and things are quiet again you’re just ready for things to fall out of you. I have a phone full of memos and loads of notebooks with little melodic ideas".
When asked about his latest track 'Better Love' he described it as a "challenge". The track has been released ahead of the upcoming movie The Legend of Tarzan starring Alexander Skarsgard and Margot Robbie. Hozier was approached by director David Yates to compose a song using the themes of the movie. "The director was a really sweet guy, but the conversation was ‘You have three weeks.’ That’s Hollywood right there".
'Better Love' was recorded in London's Abbey Road studios. "I was struck by the theme of endurance, and endurance of love through such a hostile environment. I wanted the song to be an intimate reassurance as spoken from one lover to another—one that might be issued in hardship or doubt", Hozier said.
