Hilco Capital has confirmed that following successful negotiations with landlords and suppliers, HMV is to re-open stores in Henry Street, Dublin; Liffey Valley; Dundrum and Limerick’s Crescent Shopping Centre.
“We are thrilled to be able to bring HMV back to Ireland,” says Hilco Chief Executive Paul McGowan. “The demand from consumers has been very strong since we acquired the business from the Receivers so it is gratifying to be able to get four stores up and running in such a short period of time. We will also be launching our new digital product in Ireland later in the year and have more exciting developments being announced in coming weeks.”
Henry Street will be back in business on Friday September 6 with its sister outlets opening their doors the following week.
The final pieces of store building are now complete with 120 newly recruited staff receiving pre-opening training while stock is moved in.
The good news doesn’t end there with details being announced next week of 26 ‘shop-in-shops’ within the Xtra-vision chain of stores that Hilco also acquired earlier in the year.
“The Xtra-vision, HMV and Hilco teams have been at full stretch in recent weeks finalising arrangements and store designs for the new concession arrangements,” Hilco Ireland’s Larry Howard reveals. “We look forward to HMV once again becoming the home of entertainment retail in Ireland. We will also be making announcements next week regarding plans for the redemption of valid gift vouchers which were not honoured during the Receivership of the old HMV business prior to our ownership."
