Axl, Duff and Slash are returning to Lord Henry's gaff on May 27th!
After several months of rumour and teaser poster campaigns, Guns N’ Roses have confirmed at a launch event this morning in Ireland’s most rock ‘n’ roll bar, Bruxelles, that they’re helping Slane to celebrate their 25th anniversary with a May stop-off in Meath. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, December 9.
MC at the announcement was Today FM's Ian Dempsey, with Hot Press' Stuart Clark providing some latest band info. Alex and Tamara Mountcharles were in attendence in place of their father, talking about memories of GnR's first visit.
Guns N’ Roses first visit to Lord Henry’s gaff was on May 16th, with Faith No More and Kilkenny’s My Little Funhouse providing support.
It’s a reminder of just how massive the band are that their Appetite For Destruction album recently sold its 35th million copy. The 'November Rain' video has been viewed 707 million times on YouTube - and rising!
With Axl, Slash and Duff all present and (in)correct, critics have been drooling over their recent shows. Fans in Mexico City were delighted last week when they brought on a giant piñata effigy of Donald Trump for them to belt with a stick – and belt The Donald they did! We can think of several villainous Irish politicians if they want to repeat the trick here.
Talking to Hot Press recently, Slash said their main reason for initially wanting to play Slane was that the Rolling Stones had done it. The baton was passed on again when Slash raved so much about it to Dave Grohl that he was determined to add Foo Fighters to that famous list of headliners.
