Reports are that the iconic LA outfit will begin the European leg of their reunion tour in GAA headquarters in Dublin next summer
Guns N' Roses are set to play Croke Park next year. The proposed date, which is likely to be confirmed very soon, will be the original line-up's first show in Ireland since they headlined Slane Castle, back in 1993.
The first mention of the gig – on an as-yet-to-be-announced summer date – was on the website Flick of The Finger, which stated that Guns N’ Roses will begin their European tour with a date in Dublin, and that this tour-opener will be followed by shows in Berlin, Stockholm, Paris and Barcelona.
Croke Park has planning permission to hold three gigs annually but to date only one show has been announced for next year – Coldplay play there on July 8, 2017, a date which has already sold out.
Although Guns N' Roses never actually split up, there was a process of “natural wastage”. Singer Axl Rose has been the only original member in the band, since bassist Duff McKagan and guitar-slinger Slash left during the 1990s.
The band originally reunited in April 2016, to play the Coachella festival in California, with frontman Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bass player Duff McKagan getting back together for the first time since 1993. In 2008, Axl had vowed never to play with Slash again. “One of the two of us will die before a reunion,” he said.
Which is why – in an echo of The Eagles' Hell Freezes over reunion gigs – the band have called their reunion gigs the 'Not In This Lifetime Tour'.

"It was probably way overdue,” Slash said of the reunion. “It's very cool at this point.”
How long the detente last remains to be seen. However, right now, no one is putting a time on when they will be able to say “job done”.
“I’ve been told there is no end date,” the band’s manager Dale Skjerseth stated. "I’ve seen plenty of dates going into next year, far into next year. Everybody’s working together to keep a common goal and common direction – to keep the machine going.”
Racking up $14 million in costs, their Chinese Democracy album was the most expensive in the history of rock. With just six albums to their credit to date, hey have sold in excess of 100 million albums to date.
