The comedy actor is talking Mick Jagger, vodka and his part in Get On Up.
For Aykroyd, the role of James Brown's manager Ben Bart is a personal one.
"I worked with James Brown on The Blues Brothers, and we became friends after that...my family met him and I even got to dance and sing on stage with him! We did many things together," says the actor.
Aykroyd remembers his friend to be "warm and generous," but opens up on how the film reveals the darker side of James Brown.
"Yes, the film shows everything...when he was arrested in South Carolina after that famous high-speed chase, I think the whole world felt sorry for him, as he had given so much to the world at the point. Everybody loved James Brown!"
