The rock station teams up with the Dublin multi-instrumentalist
Gavin Glass will be lending his musical expertise to NOVA for radio programme ‘Locals Only’.
Glass has released 3 critically acclaimed solo albums as well as being one of Ireland's most in demand record producers. The Dubliner is the owner and operator of Orphan Recording Studios who produce Irish talent such as The Young Folk and The Hot Sprockets.
Glass is no newcomer to radio; he hosted his own show on TXFM for over a year called ‘The Pick-Up’.
Hot Press caught up with Glass to talk about his new slot: “I thought there was a lot of Irish shows out there and they kind of need a kick in the butt. What I want to do is kind of go back to the days of the Fanning sessions and the John Peel sessions where bands can come into the studio and the session will go out then that week.”
Glass was actually on ‘Locals Only’ himself with John Bowe which is how he came to get the gig. Bowe told him on air that he was leaving the show and recommended that Glass would be a fine replacement: It would seem the director of NOVA thought so too.

Glass thinks there is huge untapped talent to be discovered in Ireland, “There is so much amazing music out there that’s not getting heard. People aren’t blogging about them but they’re still out there gigging away.”
As well as all the new talent Glass will be bringing our attention to, ‘Locals Only’ will also feature a ‘Buried Treasure’ segment which will focus on great bands from the seventies, eighties and nineties which didn’t get the exposure they deserved.
Tune in to Gavin Glass hosting ‘Locals Only’ on Nova at the beginning of March.
