A unique new festival takes place next weekend.
Centring on Dublin’s Grand Canal, Ireland’s newest festival, Canalaphonic, will take place throughout Portobello and Rathmines May 8 – 9. Programmed by Abner Browns Barbershop, on Friday evening and all day Saturday bands will play on ‘The Making Waves Stage’, a barge at Portobello Harbour. This will be followed by a wide range of gigs and club nights of differing sizes and genres in 22 venues throughout the area. Acts include The Hot Sprockets, Gavin Glass and the New Shakers, Cave Ghosts and Sinead White.
Friday runs from 5pm – 9.30pm, while on Saturday (1 – 9.30pm), to coincide with the arrival of barges participating in the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland’s Dublin Rally, there will be a boutique market at Portobello Harbour, along with barge trips, and family activities.
