The new Dublin festival runs today and tomorrow.
Centring on Dublin’s Grand Canal, Ireland’s newest festival, Canalaphonic, has just kicked off. Programmed by Abner Browns Barbershop, this evening and all day Saturday bands will play on ‘The Making Waves Stage’, a barge at Portobello Harbour. This will be followed by a wide range of gigs and club nights of differing sizes and genres in various venues throughout the area. Acts include The Hot Sprockets, Gavin Glass and the New Shakers, Cave Ghosts and Sinead White.
Tonight, the live music atop the canal barge stage runs until 9pm. Thereafter, there will be live music in 20 venues throughout Rathmines and Portobello. Tomorrow, to coincide with the arrival of barges participating in the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland’s Dublin Rally, there will be a boutique market at Portobello Harbour, along with barge trips, and family activities.
