Gary sings 'Tired Of Waiting' with Ray Davies on his new album.
Gary Lightbody is among the myriad guests on See My Friends, a collaborative re-working of the Kinks back catalogue that comes out here on October 29.
Gary features on a suitably sprightly version of 1965’s ‘Tired Of Waiting’ which holds its own alongside offerings that feature Bruce Springsteen (‘Better Things’), Metallica (‘You Really Got Me’), Black Francis (‘This Is Where I Belong’), Billy Corgan (‘All Day And All Of The Night’), Mumford & Sons (‘Days’) and the late, extremely great Alex Chilton (‘Til The End Of The Day’).
"This project came about almost by accident," Davies reflects. "With some tracks I had to appreciate the style of the other artists, otherwise it would have sounded unbalanced. And I wanted the album to work as an entire listening experience but each track had a life of its own."
Meanwhile, Gary has outlined his plans for the next six months, which are to record a new Snow Patrol album between November and January and then decamp to either Memphis or Nashville where the second Tired Pony record will be assembled. Busy man!
