The meeting of great musical minds is taking place as we speak in the US.
Gary Lightbody has revealed that the superstar guest on his country-tinged Tired Pony side-project is R.E.M.’s Peter Buck.
Also shacked up at the moment with the Snow Patrol man in a Portland, Oregon studio are Iain Archer and his wife Miriam, Belle and Sebastian’s Richard Coburn and Jacknife Lee who’s taking care of production duties.
“Peter is one of my all-time heroes,” Garry tells Q magazine. “I admire his versatility, he can play any stringed instrument and more besides. I can’t wait to see what he comes up with! He’s a real innovator, which is great because this is a whole new project.”
Tired Pony sessions completed, Lightbody and Lee will head to LA where they plan to record an electronica album under the Listen… Tanks! banner.
