Foo Fighters sound like a million bucks, SOAK takes on America, and Ed Sheeran teams up with Macklemore.
With the new Premier League season starting tomorrow we don't want to be tweaking our groins or our hamstrings, but that hasn't stopped Free Music Friday going hellbent for leather in its pursuit of the best downloads, streams, vids and trailers that money can't buy.
Sending the web into complete meltdown this past 48 hours is 'Growing Up', the surprise - and well nifty - new single from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Bag yourself a copy at [link]macklemore.com[/link]
Also getting copious Free Music Friday plays is this red hot Chance The Rapper and Lil' B mix.
Making it a hat trick of sizzling summer delights is Bang 3, the latest 14-track, A$AP Rocky and Mac Miller-assisted gangstafest from Chief Keef who's getting really good at this staying out of jail lark.
Already much lauded and loved here, SOAK has begun the process of wowing them on the other side of the Atlantic. Mission: Conquer America is considerably advanced by the gorgeous acoustic set she performed t’other day on NPR. Three Before We Forgot How To Dream standouts – ‘Sea Creatures’, ‘B a noBody’ and ‘Wait’ – were dispensed with considerable gusto. How could our colonial cousins possibly resist?
Hot Press Hot For 2015 pick Shamir Bailey also dropped by the American NPR offices this week. While his records are buffed to a fine production sheen, the Electric Picnic-bound 20-year-old doesn't need anything more than an acoustic guitar to rock your socks off.
There's more free music to be had courtesy of the folk from Rendezvous, the tasty looking two-dayer taking place next month in Colorado's Beaver Creek (no rude jokes please!) beauty spot. Drew Holcomb, John Oates, Indigo Girls and Holly Williams are among those pressed into preview mixtape action.
