Free tunes from the likes of Fred, British Sea Power and Kurt Vile, as well as a Bitter Rocc exclusive...
Spring is finally here and with it comes another immense batch of Free Music Friday tunes to bring even more sunshine into your lives.
Already described by our Today FM pal KC as “an absolute cracker”, the new Fred single, ‘Battles’, is released today as a gratis [link]www.fredtheband.com[/link] download. Recorded just too late to be included on their last Leaving My Empire album, it features a live version of ‘Running’ on the virtual flip.
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are debuting their new Mosquito album online, and also telling fans how psyched they are to be back.
Ireland-bound in July for Longitude, the new tunes they’ve conjured up sound all sorts of awesome.

Our favourite former Dublin-residing Virginian, Eric Eckhart, is making his new DIT: Do-It-Together album available as a tasty freebie.
The ten-tracker was recorded, mixed, mastered and designed between September 17 and 23 in Berlin’s Supermarkt creative hub without any money being spent.
There’s also a DIT film documenting the process, which is being shown Berlinwide in May and then also getting the free download treatment.

We’re also pretty taken with the accompanying video, which reminds us a bit of an old Talking Heads clip. Try as we might we can’t remember which one!

The Mighty Stef serves up the first taster from his as-yet-untitled new album and we’re delighted to say it’s a belter!
Recorded at Los Angeles’ 11AD studio with Alain Johannes at the production helm, the slowburning ‘Song For A Blind Girl’ renews those (very healthy) Nick Cave comparisons and will doubtless get an airing on April 5 when Stef and the gang play Whelan’s.
