French Pop Icon France Gall Dies
The famous yé-yé singer, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965, has passed away at the age of 70 following a battle with cancer.
France Gall released her first single at the age of 16 and went on to collaborate wth Serge Gainsbourg.
She first topped the French charts in 1964 and was so popular that, at the peak of her fame, Walt Disney wanted her to star as the protagonist in a planned movie version of 'Alice in Wonderland'.
She also had many hits in Germany during the 60s and early 70s, before going on to work with musician Michel Berger, whom she later married. At one point, even the great Jean-Luc Godard made one of her music videos.
