Christopher Eccleston, Michael Gambon, Stanley Tucci and Sofie Gråbøl all join him on the new Sky Atlantic drama.
Set to debut in feature-length form this day next week, Fortitude is a Sky Atlantic show with a seriously heavyweight ensemble cast. In the current issue of Hot Press, we catch up with one of them.
Lisburn's own Richard Dormer stars as local Head of Police, Dan Anderssen, and says that the set is a remarkably "egoless" place, despite the names present. He recalls the first ensemble read through of the script this time last year.
“There were about a hundred people sat around a very big hotel table. I’m beside Christopher Eccleston,
Michael Gambon, Stanley Tucci and Sofie Gråbøl – make sure you get all the vowely bits in her name right! – going, ‘This is the crème de la crème of character acting.’ I mean, Michael Gambon...”
“He’s one of the funniest people I’ve ever met, a
real joker,” Richard enthuses of Gambon. “Michael’s got so many
anecdotes, you could write a book just listening to the man talking about Olivier and O’Toole, the old school.
He’s from the golden era of television, The Singing Detective and all that.”
For more from Dormer and on the show, which deals with the aftermath of a violent crime in the Arctic locale of Fortitude, "one of the safest towns on Earth", pick up the new issue of Hot Press.
