Dark direction hinted at for sophomore effort
Florence And The Machine frontwoman Florence Welch has shared some insight into the writing process of the currently untitled follow-up to 2009's critically-acclaimed debut album Lungs.
In an interview with Nylon Magazine, the flame-haired singer revealed that the lyrical content of the next album will have a supernatural and personal feel.
''A lot of the songs on the new album are about imaginary things," she said. "Things that you can't touch: ghosts and rumours, my dead grandmother, things visiting you in a dream.
As Welch approaches her mid-twenties, she has taken the time to pause and reflect on her life.

"It feels as if there's still a lot of questioning left to do," she said. "Just because I'm happy in my relationship, I've still got issues to deal with. I'm going to be 25 and I feel like I've got to be a grown-up now. I feel like your life is always a battle between safety and freedom.''
