Dublin Jazz Presents: Love... and All That Jazz will see the trio join up in Bagots Hutton Live, Dublin on Saturday, September 23rd.
Flo McSweeney and Carmel McCreagh with Fiachra Trench take a look at love with jazz standards and songs from the musicals, classic pop songs and contemporary songs.
Songwriters featured include Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington/Billy Strayhorn, Johnny Mercer, Billie Holiday, Jacques Brel, Stephen Soldheim, Paul Simon, Mick Jagger, Joni Mitchell.
Fiachra Trench, composer, producer and orchestral arranger (Paul Brady, Paul McCartney/ Wings, Phil Lynott/ Thin Lizzy, Van Morrison…) joins Flo and Carmel on piano for this show.
Flo McSweeney has worked in the entertainment business for over 35 years. As a singer she has toured extensively with Moving Hearts and The Commitments, including performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland; she has worked on many projects with Bill Whelan of Riverdance fame, including the Yeats/Beckett Festival at the Abbey Theatre for five years and An Evening with W.B. Yeats at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, in September 2015; and she is a regular guest vocalist with the 17–piece Hot House Big Band.
Carmel McCreagh hails from Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, but now lives in Wicklow. For 20 years she has been writing and performing with Fiachra Trench. She has appeared at festivals and venues throughout Ireland, entertaining audiences with her soulful interpretations of songs from the Great American Songbook as well as contemporary and original songs. She has released two albums — Nice Girl and Skylark — both of which have been critically acclaimed.
