WATCH:Fionn Regan releases video for new single, featuring Cillian Murphy

Ahead of the release of his fifth album, The Meeting of the Waters, this April, Fionn Regan has released the title track as his new single.

The video for the album’s title track and lead single features Hollywood actor Cillian Murphy, of Peaky Blinders and Batman Begins fame.

With shots reminiscent of Tom Hardy's single-location film Locke, the video for 'The Meeting of the Waters' features Cillian taking a solitary car journey down a country road as Regan’s tender vocals and crisp acoustic guitars play in the background.

The Meetings of the Waters, Fionn's first album in nearly half a decade, will be released on April 14 2017 via his own label imprint常に愛TSUNENI AI (translates to “Always Love” in Japanese).

It's been a crucial few years of transience for acclaimed Irish musician, Fionn Regan. He recently relocated to the Irish countryside and considered a move full time into visual art, ultimately going through a necessary process of shedding skin and strengthening his resolve. His lyric ‘where the days have no numbers’ from his album track 'Abacus' was sampled by Justin Vernon on 00000 Million from Bon Iver’s 22, A Million LP.

Born in Bray, Ireland, Regan came to prominence with the release of his debut studio album, The End of History in 2006. Over the course of his career, Regan has been nominated for the Choice Music Prize in Ireland, the Mercury Prize in the U.K. and the Shortlist Music Prize in the U.S.

Put A Penny In The Slot

For a few years now, Regan has been accumulating gradual credit with the music business, climbing to a point where he can enlist former Cocteau Twin Simon Raymonde to mix his album. Such input is largely absent here, ‘Put A Penny In The Slot’ being a very simple acoustic track that doesn’t bother itself with such things as choruses, hooks or a hugely memorable melody. Nice enough but not really good enough.
