Babyshambles bassist Drew McConnell is taking time out from Pete Doherty-minding duties to assist Fionn Regan with the making of his second album.
“He’s doing it with Ethan Johns who produced Kings Of Leon and Ryan Adams,” McConnell reveals. “I think it’s going to surprise a lot of people. I’ve been playing with him for a few years, and all of a sudden people are starting to pay attention to him. He’s just an incredible songwriter.”
Talking to Hot Press, Regan’s manager Tim Vigon adds: “It’s definitely a record that’s going to take people by surprise if they’re familiar with The End Of History. There’s more attack, aggression and electric guitars, as well as a few trademark acoustic beauties.
“It’s being made in a remote farmhouse in the West of England with Brian Murphy who toured with Fionn last year on bass, Jamie Morrison of The Noisettes on drums and Drew guesting on one track, ‘House Detective’, which had a few airings in Fionn’s live shows last year.
“It’s a huge leap from the last record. It feels like a real body of work and everyone who’s heard what’s been done so far is incredibly excited.”
