The promising quintet have been snapped up by Native Records.
Big news for Drogheda's Featuring X today as they put pen to paper on a deal with UK indie label Native Records. Having only launched their careers in the industry last year and fresh from completing their Leaving Certs this summer, it's a big – and extremely positive – step for the young act.
Describing Featuring X as "the most exciting female band of their generation," label founder Kevin Donoghue says that: "The girls jumped on our radar, we listened to their music, did some research and were very impressed with what we saw. We then heard the first 30 seconds of Wild Love and were straight on the phone to their management company.”
Lead singer Niamh Sharkey commented: “For any band, signing to a label is probably one of the best achievements to reach. In our short 3 years together we have put our heart and soul into building Featuring X, and to have reached this point is nothing short of incredible for us. It means everything to us to have people behind us who believe and support us in what we wish to achieve. This is only the beginning of a whole new chapter for us as we start work with Native Records."
The girls head into the studio later this year to record an EP with an eye to an early 2015 release.
Here's the Robert Palmer-referencing video for 'Wild Love', the song that secured them the deal.
