The superstar turntablist was approached to judge the upcoming Ultimate DJ.
Preparing to get the party jumping with a headline spot on day one of Forbidden Fruit on Friday May 29, Fatboy Slim takes time out for a revealing chinwag with HP's Stuart Clark in the new issue.
On the agenda – singing ABBA songs with the Edge, how much he loves performing in the Irish capital ("shit always goes off in Dublin!") and why he turned down Simon Cowell's offer to appear as a judge on his Ultimate DJ show.
The programme is currently being made with Yahoo for their live streaming service, with electro producer Steve Aoki joining Cowell on the panel.
While Slim (Norman Cook to his nearest and dearest) says he doesn't have an issue with Cowell per se, he didn't feel it was an area the music mogul should go into.
"I've no problem with X Factor which exists in X Factor world, but don't try and get involved in DJ-ing because you don't understand how it works," he opines. "It's not a snap judgement; you have to listen to a DJ for two hours to know if they're any good. It's probably the most ridiculous idea I've heard in a decade and sums up everything that's wrong with the EDM approach to dance music. We don't want all these wannabe DJs venturing onto cruise ships, and giving the rest of us a shitty fucking name."
