The first wave of acts have been announced for this year’s Forbidden Fruit Festival in Dublin
Fatboy Slim – familiar Hot Press cover star – and the Wu Tang Clan are among the headliners at this year’s Forbidden Fruit festival. The festival, which is presented by POD Concerts and Bulmer’s, takes place in the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, on the June Bank Holiday weekend, 29 - 31 May 2015.
The festival will feature over 70 acts across five stages (variously titled the Original Stage, Undergrowth, Lighthouse, Someplace Else and The Workshop), offering a wide selection of different styles of music.
New additions to this year’s festival include The Workshop Stage (new band stage), a new Odessa Vodka cocktail bar, and the Glastonbury favourite, The Inflatable Church Collective. The festival will also feature the familiar Bulmer’s Lounge.
Wu Tang Clan’s appearance at Forbidden Fruit will reunite the surviving original members. The band's new album, A Better Tomorrow, is their first full-length in seven years.
Joining Wu Tang on the rap bill are some of hip-hop’s hottest newcomers, including: Earl Sweatshirt, the 20-year old phenomenon from Los Angeles; Hot Press favourite Joey Bada$$, the online sensation, whose massively anticipated debut album has just been released; and acclaimed hip-hop duo Run The Jewels.
Berlin house legends Booka Shade make a welcome return to the festival, while Manchester’s inimitable Mr. Scruff will bring his trademark visuals and bewildering array of infectious beats to Forbidden Fruit for the first time.
For electronic fans, the bill features young Dutch DJ and producer, Bakermat; Belfast techno master Ejeca; Swiss remix wiz Cyril Hahn; London electronic duo Dusky; and homegrown superstar dj Matador.
Early bird weekend tickets go on sale at 9am on Thursday 29th January at €99.50 inc booking fee, through Ticketmaster and usual outlets.
