Don't Want To Sleep
Kooky thrills from Icelandic band with unlikely name
Icelandic four-piece FM Belfast continue to lay their quirky, jerky electro pop-tinged smackdown on the music world's collective ears for their second effort Don’t Want To Sleep. It's a multi-textured, sprawling 11-track offering full of nerdish charm and frankly bonkers lyrics. The cuts that feature female singer Loa Hlin Hjalmtysdottir's honeyed vocals more prominently are by far the best, with her voice helping to create a bewitching sound that lies somewhere between Stereolab and LCD Soundsystem. Despite the odd throwaway song ('American,' 'New Year'), the kooky quartet have managed to deliver another solid slab of infectious outsider pop. Fans of the band will no doubt lap it up.
