As very much expected, the capital of Portugal will play host for the first time ever to the Eurovision Song Contest next year, it has just been confirmed by organisers.
Portugal won the event this year with their entry Salvador Sobral. And as is the norm, the winning country gets to hosts the event next but it was only officially confirmed last night that Lisbon will, in fact, get the chance to host the contest, after it was given the nod over other possible cities like the picturesque Porto.
The public television Radiotelevisao Portuguesa, the host broadcaster, has announced that the Eurovision song contest will take place at a riverside entertainment complex in Lisbon. The semifinals will be held on 8-10 May 8 and the final taking place on 12 May.
