The quality of those songs didn't quite match up to the promise
Eoin Coughlan has several things going for him, not least a youthful David Kitt-like enthusiasm, a strong clear voice and an in-your-face guitar style not unlike that of Luka Bloom. Extensive live experience touring with the likes of Paddy Casey, Jack L and Billy Bragg has honed his stage presence and tonight, backed by just drums and bass, (members of Sinéad Lohan's Band) the former Nomos frontman drew a healthy crowd for the recording of a live EP.
The overall effect was a kind of Bob Dylan – Blood On The Tracks-era sound, with the rhythm section nicely fleshing out the acoustic based songs. Unfortunately, the quality of those songs didn't quite match up to the promise and apart from a powerful number called (I think) 'My Town' it was an uneventful evening, made even less enjoyable by the increasing level of crowd noise.

Disappointing.
