The Kilcoole indie band approach their own back catalogue from an entirely different perspective.
To celebrate the one year annoiversary of the release of their phenomenal sophomore long player Embark, Embrace. Enemies have surprised fans with a very special teat indeed, a new EP of remixes.
The new EP feature six startling re-imaginings of tracks pulled from Embark, Emrace lovingly crafted by Enemies guitarist Eoin Whitfield (SIATS) and engineer/producer James Eager (itsallwaves).
Both producers use entirely different approaches though each achieve beautiful results. SIATS uses the session files from the original recordings to build epic soundscapes and glitchy rhythms that keep the source material's post-rock sonic fingerprints to the fore. itsallwaves on the other hand rips the songs straight from vinyl to his computer to create infectious looped beats, minimalist vocal melodies and smooth basslines. Both producers' work ends up at that skittering sweet spot reminiscent of Mount Kimbie or Gold Panda though with a markedly more anthemic bent.
