Elliott Smith dies, aged 34

Elliott Smith 1969 - 2003

Reports are emerging that American singer-songwriter Elliott Smith died yesterday at the age of 34. The official cause of death is unconfirmed.

The Portland-born artist began writing and recording songs from the age of 14, and released five albums during his truncated career. He was currently working on his sixth album - due to be completed by the end of the year and tentatively titled From A Basement On The Hill.
