The "interstellar" Irish supergroup open the Main Stage with an electro-rock bang.
Lar Kaye and Conor Adams of parishes Adebisi Shank and Cast of Cheers respectively have been at pains to point out that this joint venture is in no way, shape or form a side project in their minds.
Given the mixed blessing of kicking off the Main Stage action today, they more than backed that up; their performance something of a statement of intent and an intriguing taster of what’s to come from Tvvins (pronounced “twins”, by the way) in the future.
Right now, they’re still finding their feet, but they’ve already located an intoxicating sound.
Performing as a three piece, they stretch the stage, and with a super-powered Lewis Hedigan on the skins they get off to a flying start. Stylistically, they hit the sweet spot between Cast Of Cheers’ adherence to pop structure and love for an earwormy melody, whilst the multi-instrumentalist, multi-talented Kaye adds a dose of Adebisi adventure, turning out knock-out guitar hooks you’d swear you’ve lived with your entire life as well as the odd extended excursion up and down the fretboard.
With nods to the zeitgeist, this is indie rock supplemented with plenty off big synths and ‘80s vibes, as we occasionally cross into Twin Shadow territory. Electric electro.
By the close, they also appear to have their singalong radio hit. All systems are go, and Tvvins won’t be sidelined by anybody. A set worthy of the Main Stage.
