Russell Brand’s BFFs – and beloved of everyone from Noel Gallagher to Andy Lee – Blind Boy Boatrace and Mr Chrome have risen to become the High Kings of Irish comedy. Bringing Gascuntism of the highest order to Stradbally for yet another year, you can guarantee that music and mayhem will be on the cards. Last year, Blind Boy even took a dig at the Picnic in the pages of Hot Press – “It’s over-priced paninis and they make you eat food with wooden forks, so they can go fuck themselves”, he opined – so be warned, no-one is safe!

By now, the 1990 East Leinster under-14 triple jump bronze medallist will need little introduction – to comedy aficionados or fans of schools athletics – and his ability to put the ‘aha’ in ‘small Yamaha keyboards’ is still not to be missed. Star of Sky1’s Moone Boy; decorated theatre thesp; even hitting the
big screen in Noble; is there anything the Drogheda woman can’t do? Sit still, it would seem. With enough commitments to keep any mere mortal busy, her stand-up past came calling this past year; answering it, O’Kane makes a long-awaited return to the solo comedy scene. She’s commented that reaching middle age has left her with something new to say; we would recommend sitting up and listening.

Being a regular guest of Conan O’Brien at age 24 is pretty impressive, but that’s not half of it. At the tender age of 16, the London-born, Scottish-raised prodigy was writing material for Frankie Boyle. His observational style has won admirers the world over, and with good reason; his impish grin might suggest a wide-eyed innocence, but the guy can spot a killer line from a mile away. Superstardom awaits just around the corner – so don’t miss your chance to beat the crowds, and catch him while you still can.
